News & RSS feeds

M2C2 can rotate headlines from RSS / Atom feeds or curated news providers (depending on your build).

Add a feed

  1. Open Settings → News (or RSS).
  2. Tap Add feed.
  3. Paste the RSS or Atom URL (not the newspaper homepage).
  4. Set display name and max items (3–8 works well on mirrors).
  5. Set refresh interval — respect publisher rate limits (15–30 minutes minimum for many free feeds).

💡 Tip: Test the feed URL in a desktop RSS reader first. Some sites block non-browser user agents — your build may need a custom fetcher.

Layout

  1. Open Layout → News module.
  2. Choose single column vs ticker style if available.
  3. Truncate long headlines for readability at 1–2 metres.

⚠️ Warning: Automated fetching of paywalled or ToS-restricted content can break without notice. Prefer official RSS endpoints.

Troubleshooting

Feed empty
Invalid XML, blocked IP, or HTTPS cert issues — curl the feed from the Pi over SSH.

Duplicate stories
Multiple feeds covering same topic — reduce overlap or dedupe in settings.
