Case & mounting ideas

Thermal

  1. Use a vented Pi case — the cavity behind mirrors can exceed 45 °C.
  2. Optional 5 V fan on GPIO — tune PWM curves so it is inaudible at night.

⚠️ Warning: Do not seal the Pi in a foam-lined picture frame without airflow — thermal throttle makes voice and video stutter.

Mechanical

  1. VESA holes on the TV — print a VESA bracket for Pi + USB hub.
  2. Strain relief — zip-tie HDMI and USB so tripping a cable does not rip ports.

Security

  1. Kensington slot rarely exists on TVs — hide Pi inside the cavity and glue excess cables.
  2. Disable USB gadgets in firmware if untrusted users have physical access.

Aesthetics

  1. Paint Pi holder matte black so reflections through one-way mirror are minimal.
  2. Route LEDs away from the glass sight-line or disable activity LEDs via dtparam=act_led_off=1 if acceptable.
