Screensaver & photo frame

When the mirror is idle, M2C2 can dim the UI and show a photo frame or ambient screensaver to protect the panel and look elegant.

Screensaver timing

  1. Open Settings → Display → Screensaver.
  2. Set idle timeout (for example 5 minutes).
  3. Choose style: clock only, photos, artwork, or black (OLED-safe if applicable).

💡 Tip: For LCD TVs used as mirrors, mild dimming + full-screen dark backgrounds reduce backlight wear versus max brightness 24/7.

Photo sources

  1. Open Settings → Photo frame.
  2. Add local album path on the Pi or cloud album if integrated.
  3. Enable shuffle and ken burns (slow zoom) if you like — disable if CPU usage rises.
  4. Set caption privacy — hide filenames if they include personal info.

⚠️ Warning: Burn-in is a risk on some OLED panels with static UI elements. Use pixel shift, dark UI, and screensaver features when available.

Motion wake (optional)

If you use a PIR sensor, map motion detectedwake display in Settings → Sensors (wiring: PIR guide).

Troubleshooting

Photos not updating
Folder permissions on the Pi — ensure the app user can read /home/.../Pictures.

Slideshow stutters
Resize images to 1080p–4K max; huge RAWs will choke the Pi.
